Terryl Wilder grew up on a cattle ranch in Oregon, where she spent her days riding bareback through open trails. “Why bother with a saddle? I’d rather just swing on and go!”
While raising three kids, she built a vibrant career as an art broker, designer and home stager. These creative paths eventually led her back to her own artwork, which she had always pursued when time allowed. Today, she’s a full-time artist and art teacher, loving every minute in the studio.
Each painting begins with a color scheme in mind, then building the background using fluorescent spray paints, markers, handmade papers, stencils and inks. Terryl will then sketch digitally sourced compositions—often landscapes layered with horses, flowers, or figures. She paints from these images using oil glazes, allowing each piece to evolve through texture, transparency, and surprise.
Today, Terryl lives in Portland, OR. With husband Larry. She has two daughters, sonand two grown grandsons nearby, family remains a joyful source of connection and inspiration. always experimenting with new designs and techniques that reflect her ever-evolving artistic journey.
